Vanessa A. Scott

Vanessa Scott is Vice President, Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Law at Albertsons Companies. Before joining Albertsons in October 2021, she was a Partner at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. Vanessa’s legal expertise covers health and welfare plans, executive compensation arrangements, and equity compensation. She has significant experience advising companies regarding compensation and benefits issues that arise in domestic and international transactions. Vanessa’s practice areas included health and welfare plans, executive compensation arrangements, equity compensation, and tax-sheltered annuity plans. She advised several of the nation’s leading employers and insurers on compliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“Affordable Care Act”).

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Vanessa was Legislative Counsel and Corporate Secretary at the ERISA Industry Committee and also served as Tax Counsel to a member of the Financial Services Committee of the United States House of Representatives. She is a former Nolan Fellow and past chair of the National Bar Association’s Tax Section.

Vanessa is a graduate of Duke University and Vanderbilt University School of Law. She holds an LL.M. in Taxation and a Certificate in Employee Benefits from Georgetown University Law Center.
