Ted Bower
Theodore D. Bower, 79, at Rochester, MN, a retired tax attorney with Sears for more than 32 years, beloved husband of Lois, nee Green; devoted mother of Claudia (Robert) Holliway and Gregory Bower; loving grandfather of Heather; dear brother of Betty (Walter) Schwartz died June 2006.
Ted was a tax attorney with Sears for more than 30 years, and had primary responsibility for the ERISA compliance of the Sears Profit Sharing Plan, one of the oldest and most successful US defined contribution profit sharing plans. Ted was known as Mr. Profit Sharing among his co-workers at Sears and his contemporaries. In addition to his responsibilities for the Sears plan, Ted was active in the Profit Sharing/401K Council of America (PSCA), the largest association of US employers, which promote employee profit sharing/401K plans as a means of increasing company productivity and economic competitiveness, and fostering employee satisfaction.
For many years, Ted was the Chairman of the PSCA Legal & Legislative Committee, and represented PSCA in ERISA related hearings before the US Congress, its Committees, Treasury, IRS and Department of Labor. Ted was inducted into the College in 2001 as an Emeritus Fellow.
Ted had a keen wit, a sharp mind and was willing to share both with all.
