Ted M. Becker is a Partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLC in the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice Group, and Co-Chair of its ERISA Litigation Group. He has a national practice, trying cases before judges, juries and arbitrators, defending clients in government investigations, and representing clients in mediations. He has argued appeals before the United States Supreme Court, United States Circuit Courts of Appeals, and state appellate courts.
Ted represents public and private companies that sponsor employee benefits, health and welfare, and retirement plans governed by ERISA, and their directors and officers, plan fiduciaries, and service providers to ERISA plans and plan sponsors. He has extensive experience relating to Employee Stock Ownership Plans and has defended some of the highest profile class action lawsuits involving ESOPs.
Over his career, Ted has devoted substantial time to speaking and writing on issues relating to employee benefits and ESOPs, and has served in leadership roles in organizations that foster employee ownership.
Ted earned his A.B. summa cum laude at Washington University St. Louis, and his M.A., Ph.D. and J.D. summa cum laude at Northwestern University.
