Roland G. Simpson served the College as its president for the 2018-2020 term. He has practiced for more than forty-five years in the areas of employee benefits, fiduciary responsibility, multiemployer plans and executive compensation representing employers and plan fiduciaries regarding qualified retirement and non-qualified deferred compensation plans, welfare plans and the benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions. He defends plans, fiduciaries and employers against actions by participants for benefits and breach of fiduciary responsibility and claims by multiemployer plans for withdrawal liability. Mr. Simpson advises employers and executives regarding executive compensation and employment agreements. Mr. Simpson has been an adjunct professor in the LL.M. (Taxation) program of Loyola Law School|Los Angeles and Golden Gate University's Graduate School of Taxation teaching the programs' courses on Employee Pensions and Benefits and on Executive Compensation. He has spoken for programs sponsored by ALI-ABA, PLI, and the USC Institute on Federal Taxation, International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, Western Pension & Benefits Conference and Taxation Sections of the State Bar of California, Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations.
