Lauson Green is currently serving as a Special Counsel in front office of the IRS Associate Chief Counsel (Employee Plans, Exempt Organizations, and Employment Taxes) within the IRS. In that role, Lauson is responsible for drafting and oversight of qualified retirement plan guidance, managing technical assistance projects, and providing technical expertise and oversight in litigation, audits, and other compliance matters.
Lauson came to the IRS from his position as a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery, where he handled all aspects of day-to-day employee benefits issues for corporate clients, including qualified and nonqualified retirement plans and welfare benefit plans. Lauson has also been an adjunct professor teaching employee benefits at the Georgetown University Law Center and a Board Member of the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries.
